The explicit intrigue towards the endthe political struggle between the police and the plastic-eaters, the power drill assassination of Brecken’s father, the reveal that it was Timlin who replaced Brecken’s internal organs detracts from the more ambient sense of unease, but the film is redeemed in its final moments with the image of Tenser rapturously eating the plastic bar.
